This vintage 1974 ad for CornSilk Cosmetics makeup seems very current to me. CornSilk foundation and powder was meant to give your skin a silky, natural glow while absorbing oil. It appealed to the more hippie/boho/folksy 70s gals, of which I was one. I had VERY oily, acne-prone skin then, and was always looking for… Read more »

Pretty in Pink and Pearls 1974 Chanel No.19 Perfume
There is a lot of social distancing, worry and fear these days in response to COVID-19 (especially here in the Seattle area). I’m pretty much a homebody, so it’s really no big deal for me to stay home most of the time. I do venture out for grocery shopping and thrifting, but wear disposable vinyl… Read more »
Catherine Deneuve for Chanel No. 5 Perfume, 1976
I love this vintage 1976 ad for Chanel No. 5 perfume featuring French actress and model, Catherine Deneuve. I didn’t get into the more sophisticated YSL fragrances until the 1980s, when I was working in corporate banking…. Read more »
Turn Me Loose, Imprevu!
I really love this 1976 ad image for Coty’s Imprevu perfume. “Turn me loose, Imprevu”. The diaphanous flow of the white gown is just exquisite. I love the look of bliss on the model’s face. Imprevu translates to ‘unforeseen’ or ‘an unexpected incident’ in English. Serendipity, if you will! ~Marilyn
Coty’s Little Originals Pot Shop Makeup, 1972
Here we have another 1970s makeup line that was trying to capture the essence of Yardley of London’s wildly popular Pot o’ Gloss. Coty had their Little Originals makeup line that was based on the idea that color should look like it came from you, not them. “A boy likes a girl who doesn’t look… Read more »
