Happy Hanging Out Earth Days

I haven’t written about laundry or clotheslines in awhile, but just wanted to reassure you that I am still a 100% air-dryer (since my dryer broke in 2005). I have been rejoicing in the warmer, sunnier days here in the Pacific Northwest, because I am able to hang laundry out on my backyard clothesline. Drying… Read more »

Vintage 70s Coty Sweet Earth Fragrances, The Flowers of 1776

Perhaps as a nod to the upcoming United States Bicentennial in 1976, Sweet Earth presented a lovely version of ‘The Flowers of 1776’. Creepy “Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!” Fragrance Shampoo & Conditioner, 1975

Yikes, some product’s advertising is cringeworthy, especially in today’s times. This “Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!” ad is rather distasteful, bordering on harassment, with a young man sniffing and commenting on a fellow student’s hair. The whole point of the shampoo and conditioner was the fragrance: “like meadows of wildflowers in spring”. I thought the… Read more »

Bonne Bell Dr Pepper Lip Smackers, 1975

I can still smell this! I remember carrying around Dr Pepper Lip Smacker when I was in college, and applying it between classes. The tube was HUGE (4 times bigger than any other lip gloss), and it smelled -and tasted- fantastic. It was very gloppy and moisturizing, and left a sheer sheen of color. Perfect… Read more »
