This is a great ad from the October 1974 issue of Mademoiselle magazine, of all places! Starring Herbie, a boy’s boy who climbs trees, skateboards, jumps puddles, and plays baseball, basketball, street hockey and football. All while wearing a sweater that his mother knit for him using Coats & Clark’s Red Heart Wintuk yarn.
The yarn is so springy and resilient that it holds up to daily washing and drying, and comes out beautifully every time. I love the fact that Herbie looks so stylin’ while wearing one of mom’s creations. Go Herbie!

Marilyn, do you have an idea where to get the pattern for this beautiful sweater? I have two boys. Just love that sweater, but could not find the pattern. I should probably contact Red Heart directly? Thanks for your help in advance!

I don’t know, but I will take a look through my stack of vintage knitting patterns. I know I have some children’s sweater patterns somewhere! Perhaps I can find a similar pattern. It IS very cute! 🙂

Marilyn, victory! Yarnspirations team found this pattern for me along with some other cute children’s cardigans and sweaters. It was published in a book â„– 241 “Children’s Sweaters. Sizes 6-12” by Coats & Clark’s (1974).
