Kate Middleton (and me) at the Olympics

Being an unapologetic Olympics lover, I’m really enjoying seeing Kate Middleton also getting into the Olympics!  Doesn’t it seem like she is at every event?  With a front row seat to most venues, she can be seen clapping, shouting, jumping, and even doing The Wave.  I can be seen doing these things too…only, I am… Read more »

Redheads, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and Sugar Rationing 1946

I rarely drink soft drinks, but when I do I enjoy a crisp ginger ale.  Ginger ale is one of those vintage-y soft drinks that seems a bit classier and isn’t sickeningly sweet.  I love this 1946 Canada Dry ginger ale ad.  “Go Steady With Ginger!”, features a wholesome looking redheaded (“ginger” haired) woman, swimming… Read more »

Vintage 1950 Pretty “Tulip Time” Sweater Knitting Pattern

Here’s a great vintage 1950 knitting pattern from Fleisher’s Yarns: “Tulip Time” sweater.  The tulips look a little abstract to me, but they’re pretty cool.  I like how they are set off individual harlequin medallions.  All in all, a unique vintage design. I am… Read more »

The Gorgeous Esther Williams and Woodbury Powder – Vintage 1946

I was always impressed with how Esther Williams parlayed competitive swimming into a movie career.  Of course, she was gorgeous and talented, and had the great opportunity to star in many “aquamusicals” in the 40s and early 50s.  The films featured fabulously choreographed synchronized swimming and diving, and the star of the show was always… Read more »

Sweet Vintage 40s Bolero Knitting Pattern

I love it when I come across variations of vintage knitting patterns; this beauty is another sweet version of Kate’s royal reception angora bolero sweater.  Named the Dolman Bolero, it is from the 1940s.  Just adorable and oh-so stylish!  I think it would look fabulous knitted in fluffy angora, and I love the big button… Read more »
